This week was marked by a serious acquisition for one of the Japanese office workers.
We are talking about a bunch of grapes, which cost a gourmet from Japan a record amount of one million two hundred thousand yen, which in translation into US dollars is over eleven thousand dollars at the current rate.
It is important to note that the grapes are red-colored berries and belong to the Ruby Roman variety (it is also called the Roman ruby).
Grape variety "Ruby Roman"
It is noteworthy that this variety was bred by Japanese breeders in 1994, however, grapes appeared on the market only in 2008. And in honor of the next anniversary of the release of these berries on sale, the secured Japanese decided to pay a specified amount for a handful of unique grapes (which, by the way, is considered the most expensive in the world).
It is reported that the eccentric buyer works as a manager in a chain of Japanese hotels.
Experts, having analyzed the demand for “Roman ruby” all over the world, came to the conclusion that by the beginning of the fall of this year about twenty-six thousand clusters of this unique grape could be sold.
It is known that this variety assumes dark red large-sized berries with a pronounced sweet taste, rich aroma and increased juiciness.
