According to monitoring by the State Food and Beverage Service of Ukraine, from 13 to 30%, and in some places up to 45-70% of sugar beet plants were affected by cercosporosis.
On 4-20% of beet plants were found: powdery mildew, peronosporosis, phomosis, viral jaundice and mosaic.
In crops of sugar beets in the territory of Vinnitsa, Poltava, Khmelnitsky regions, 2-12% of plants revealed various rot lesions, scab symptoms are visible, there is hollow. Foci of harmfulness of caterpillars of gnawing and leaf-eating moths were found everywhere.
It should be noted that warm and dry weather and the lack of rainfall at the beginning of the second decade of September of this year had a deterrent effect on the development of seedlings of winter crops, while at the same time contributing to the mass spread of pests in winter crops.
Recall that in Ukraine not so long ago the sugar season began and processing plants were involved in the production of the product. This year 32 enterprises will be engaged in sugar production in the country, which is 10 less than last year.
As of September 17, 2019, 14 factories of Ukraine were involved in the production of a sweet product. As of this date, they have already produced 57.3 thousand tons of sugar.
