This year, the area allocated for growing buckwheat in the country decreased by 10%, as reported by the Food Export Council (UFEB).
Currently, 51.9 thousand are planted with buckwheat. Sunflower, corn and wheat bypass buckwheat in terms of profitability.

For 4 months of this year, the production of buckwheat in the country reached 24.54 thousand tons, which is 26% more than last year.
During the specified period, product deliveries abroad increased by more than half (56%) and amounted to 3.85 thousand tons. At the same time, purchases of cereals in other countries for 4 months of this year amounted to 7.34 thousand tons. Basically, Ukraine purchased the product in Kazakhstan.
According to the State Statistics Service, in April 2019, 18.74 UAH / kg was requested for the river in Ukrainian markets, while for rice - 24.4 UAH / kg, millet - 38.48 UAH / kg.
From the first days of the year, buckwheat increased by 8.3% (from 17.14 UAH / kg to 18.74 UAH / kg). According to analysts, within the country the product will have a consistently high demand, which is explained not only by the affordable price, but also by the population’s interest in healthy eating.
