In Scotland, a working group has been formed to formulate future agricultural and food policy.
The Future Agricultural and Food Policy Group consists of farmers, consumers, and environmental organizations.
The group will consider how to use Scotland's natural resources for food and climate change mitigation.
In addition, the group will consider agricultural support after the final withdrawal of Scotland from the European Union. The group should present its best practices and recommendations within the next year.
Fergus Ewing, the government secretary for agriculture, said that “People are the largest resource for the food and agricultural industries, so I am glad that so many talented, experienced and knowledgeable people have agreed to join this group.
They will provide their views and experiences to assist Scottish government officials in formulating recommendations for future agricultural and food policies based on the six principles outlined earlier in Parliament. ”
The group, in its work, will focus on the period after 2024 and will verify the implementation of its proposals to support agriculture as a key part of prosperous rural Scotland, including its impact on climate change, biodiversity loss and rural conservation.
