From the first days of 2019, the rise in price of bread has continued and is associated with a general increase in prices for the products from which it is made, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine reports.

According to experts, the industry is characterized by a general slowdown in bread production, which has been going on for ten years. Market operators do not notice such a decrease in goods. This is due to the fact that many product manufacturers are engaged in the shadow business. At the same time, the market capacity is reduced by 5-10% every year.
Experts predict further preservation of the current dynamics. Bread on the market will become less and less due to a drop in demand for it and a reduction in the number of the country's population.
Earlier it was reported that the quality of bread in Kiev has significantly decreased. The management of Kyivkhleb explained this by the fact that now in Ukraine there is absolutely no good flour. Flour-milling enterprises sold high-quality flour abroad, and left not the best stocks for themselves. Since flour is the main ingredient in baking bread, its quality affects the final product.
