The International Fertilizer Association (IFA) welcomed the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Code of Conduct, which was approved this week during the FAO conference.
“The IFA and our members around the world welcome the code as a useful foundation for the rational use of nutrients that meets the obligations of the fertilizer industry, and we are pleased that some of the improvement industry proposals are reflected in the outcome document,” said IFA CEO Charlotte Hebebrand.
The International Fertilizer Association is pleased to announce that it has embarked on the development of an industry code of practice.
It will include the relevant provisions of the FAO Code of Conduct, but will be more specifically targeted at industry participants in order to facilitate the adoption and practical implementation of IFA members in a measurable way.
The IFA also said it appreciates its long-standing relationship with the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, which dates back to the 1960s, when both organizations collaborated to demonstrate the benefits of fertilizers to farmers throughout the developing world.
