The International Sugar Organization (ISO) predicts a decrease in global sugar surplus in the current marketing year from a previous forecast of 2.17 million tons to 641 thousand tons.
The reduction in the surplus of the product in the Organization is explained by the revision towards a decrease in the forecast for product production for Brazil and the countries of the European Union, even despite an increase in the forecast for the production of a “sweet product” in Thailand.
The global sugar production in the 2018-2019 marketing year is estimated at 178.68 million tons, the previous forecast estimated the production of “sweet product” in the world in the amount of 180.49 million tons.
Also, ISO forecasts in the current, compared with last, marketing year, an increase of 1.63% in global sugar consumption - up to 178.04 million tons.
In general, the Organization gives a positive assessment of the balance between supply and demand for sugar, even though its world stocks remain significant.
The International Sugar Organization (ISO) is an international non-governmental organization. Its task is to ensure control and implementation of the International Sugar Agreement.
The year of foundation of the Organization is 1968. It is the successor of the International Sugar Council.
