Analysts at ProAgro Group increased their August forecast for corn production in Ukraine by 2.7% to 35.2 million. As a result, the estimate of the total amount of grain produced in the 2019-2020 season of the marketing year rose to a record 74.3 million tons.
This was announced by Deputy Director of ProAgro Group Maria Kolesnik.
According to her, in that case, if the previous forecasts of experts are justified, the specified volume of production will exceed last year by 4.2 million tons or 6%.
“It is worth noting that this year the weight of early grains in the grain pool increased from 45% to 50%. Thus, according to preliminary estimates, Ukrainian farmers harvested 28.2 million tons of wheat and 9 million tons of barley this season, which is 3.6 and 1.7 million tons more than last year, ”said Maria Kolesnik.
The current increase in forecasts for corn production in Ukraine was the result of favorable weather conditions that developed in August.
The improvement in crop conditions this summer gave analysts the reason to increase their estimate of potential yields from 73.5 to 75.5 c / ha., Which is the second largest indicator after a record 79 c / ha. That were recorded in the last crop year.
