The state registry will replenish with 30 new varieties of potatoes this year. The decision on their inclusion was made by experts of the State Commission.
According to experts, among them the grades of “beauty of the Meshchera”, “Primabel”, “Alaska”, “Krone”, “fountain” and the completely new varieties “Rainbow”, “Austin”, “Terra”, “Zumba” have already become known ", other.
In addition, the number of new products included the Doka-Gene SSC selection variety called “flamingos”, as well as “kingsman” and “gatsby”, which Doka-Gene Technologies LLC is engaged in seed production in Russia.
This year, an expert commission conducted work two months earlier than usual. For agricultural producers this is a big plus, as they can timely adjust the assortment and purchase seed material.
The first Russian to taste potatoes was Peter I. He liked the dish and he sent the tubers to the governors for cultivation throughout the country.
The latest varieties will increase the efficiency of potato production in different regions of Russia and its market segments. Typically, most varieties of crops are included in the register only for the Central region.
But when it includes varieties from other regions, this is of great importance given the intention of the Ministry of Agriculture to pay subsidies in the amount of 70% of the cost of new varieties of potato seed material that were created and zoned in the framework of the selection and seed production program from 2017.
Thus, farms from the regions will be able to use the subsidy only for the purchase of seeds of varieties included in the register only for their region. This was told by the doctor of agricultural sciences, the head of the selection program of the SCC “Doka-Gene” Banadysev S.
