The beginning of winter this year was marked for the Ukrainian consumer by the rise in prices for beets. At the very beginning of December, the cost of a kilogram of beets was one third lower than today's figures.
“In fact, this is a kind of record for December,” Ukrainian analysts are sure, since in the past years, beets in this period of the year kept the tendency to reduce the cost. “Never before has this root crop at wholesale points of sale in the country cost in December as much as today — on average, about 10 hryvnias.”

“There was a wave of price increases that was recorded in January 2018,” the researchers note. “This trend continued until April and ended when Ukraine received large export deliveries of root crops from Poland.”
