Hydrangea is one of those plants that must be fed throughout the season. Regular watering and fertilizing affects the healthy appearance of inflorescences, sprouts and root system. Feeding can be carried out not only with special preparations, but also with simple improvised means, for example, kefir.
Is it possible to water hydrangea with kefir
Shrub treats organic top dressing very well. It responds well to fermented milk products and, in addition to kefir, hydrangea can be watered:
- fermented baked milk;
- yogurt;
- serum.
The sour-milk bacteria contained in these products are saturated with useful amino acids necessary for the normal development of the plant. Thanks to them, the flower grows faster and blooms longer.
Important! When using a fermented milk solution as a foliar fertilizer, do not fill it in the spraying unit. Protein often gets stuck in the nozzle and renders the device unusable.
What composition of kefir is needed for hydrangea
Kefir, like all sour-milk products, is rich in phosphorus, nitrogen and potassium - elements necessary for any plant. The composition of the product includes a number of compounds that improve the fertile soil qualities:
- Amino acids.
- Proteins fats carbohydrates.
- Choline, beta-carotene.
- Lactose.
- Trace elements (iodine, fluorine, copper, sodium, zinc, calcium, selenium, iron).
- Vitamins A, H, PP, C, Group B.
Kefir contains lactic acid, which significantly increases the pH of the soil. If for hydrangeas this is only for the best, then on other plants located nearby, such top dressing can affect negatively.
In addition to the properties beneficial for the flower, the product is good because it can be purchased at any store or supermarket. For the desired result, 2.5% kefir is suitable - it is just moderately acidic.
How to properly feed hydrangea with kefir
The solution can not only fertilize the hydrangea root system, but also spray the upper part of the flower during the vegetative period. For watering the roots of the bush, a mixture of 2 liters of 2.5% kefir and 10 liters of water is used. The solution is poured strictly under the root system. If drops fall on the foliage of the plant, the liquid must be wiped away quickly. To spray the upper part of hydrangea during its growth, a weaker solution should be made — 1 liter of kefir 2.5% per 10–12 liter of water.
Did you know? Hydrangea has a birthday, it is celebrated on January 5th. In the East, from where the flower came to us, these days it pleases with especially plentiful and beautiful flowering.
When processing or dressing a flower with a sour milk solution, a number of simple rules must be observed:
- The water used to dilute the product must be left standing and heated under the sun.
- After top dressing, you need to water the flower with clean water and loosen the soil to avoid rotting of the hydrangea root.
- When spraying the upper part of the plant should be irrigated and the mulch of the root system.
- Topping up the bush should be done either in the early morning or in the evening, an hour before sunset.
What are the results after watering
Watering with a sour-milk solution is carried out in the summer, not more than 1 time in 20 days. Stop fertilizing the bush with such a mixture in mid-August. This method of feeding is quite simple, but effective.
Use of this product:
- increases the splendor of inflorescences;
- prolongs flowering time;
- It is a prevention against various diseases.
Sour-milk dressing refers to folk methods of fertilizer, but the benefits from it are enormous, as well as from specialized preparations.
