The summer of 2019 will go down in Russian history as the period when state authorities decided to ban domestic officials from purchasing some foreign food products.
This is a decree that involves the introduction of a number of amendments to the list of provisions that government officials can purchase as part of meeting municipal needs (a document dated May 25, 2019 with serial number 660).
It is noteworthy that the document entered into force today. And from that day on, Russian officials will no longer be able to make public purchases of such foreign products as sparkling wines, as well as liquors and fruit alcoholic beverages.
This measure is primarily aimed at popularizing domestic winemaking products as part of the sanctions against many foreign food products.
Import substitution also suggests that, in accordance with the new resolution, officials are now obliged to carry out government purchases of only domestic meat (fresh pork, veal, beef, poultry meat), fish and fish products (caviar, seafood, etc.), dairy products ( cheese, milk, milk powder, cottage cheese, butter, etc.), as well as salt and sugar.
