In the first months of 2019, Russian farmers managed to increase the production of such a tasty and healthy crop as chickpeas.
The largest number of chickpeas, which is also called Turkish or lamb peas (many believe that the chickpea kernels are similar in shape to the head of a ram), were cultivated by farmers in the Middle Volga.
Today it is known that since the beginning of this year, Russia has supplied over 53 thousand tons of chickpeas to the foreign market. Buyers all over the world note the high quality and organoleptic properties of Russian mutton peas. It will not be superfluous to note that at the moment, Pakistan, Jordan and Israel are considered leaders in the export of chickpeas worldwide.Indian farmers are not far behind them, who also supply chickpeas in colossal quantities to world trading platforms. As for directly Russian peas, they are happy to buy it in Egypt, Iraq and Lebanon. Turkish peas from Russia and in Turkey itself, as well as in Iraq and among buyers from the Gulf countries, are highly valued.
The useful properties of lamb peas are explained by the fact that it has a reduced calorie content (per 100 grams of the product accounts for no more than 120 calories). In addition, chickpeas revealed a high content of amino acids that lower cholesterol in human blood. Positive effects of chickpeas on the activity of the nervous system were also noted.
