The Arab agrarian Amjad Alkhan grows various types of salad crops and vegetables on his land in the heart of the UAE. And all would be fine, but the farmer’s gardens are located in conditions that are not quite suitable for productive production.
The fact is that Amjad’s economy is actually located in the desert.
“I work as a grain engineer on various farms in the UAE,” Alkhan says about himself. - I saw a lot, and when he organized his farm. He relied on the experience of domestic and foreign colleagues. ”
As a result, Amjad successfully operates the production of vegetables and lettuce, based on a hydroponic system. In other words, the Arab peasant does not grow plants in the ground, but on a special fiber, saturated with nutrients and liquid. Plants are well established on mineral wool and get everything they need for development and fruiting thanks to chilled water from insulating tubes, which allow you to filter used water and use it for irrigation and recharge.
“Such a practical and alternative method of modern vegetable production allows me to save about 90% of the water,” Alkhan proudly says.
Add that the Arab farmer uses a vertical type of rotational field. This is a special installation on which the fiber with plants is located. According to Amjad, such equipment of a household economy greatly saves space and allows you to arrange extensive plantations near the city, in small spaces.
“And the closer to the city, the sooner you can get to the market and allow customers to get the most fresh harvest,” Alkhan said.
