Mushroom description
The fungus in question belongs to the Maslenkov family. How to distinguish it, where to find it, and whether the mushroom is edible - more on this later.
What does it look like?
The appearance of the goat has a number of expressive characteristics that are inherent only to some species of these living organisms.
The hat, as a rule, is from 3 to 12 cm in size. It is easy to determine the age of the fungus: the convex shape of the upper part of the goat indicates that the fruit is young, flat and ripe. The surface of the hat changes shape depending on the weather: in the rainy season it is covered with mucus, and shines in drought. The color of the top of the mushroom can be different: yellow, red, red, brown. The peel is not easy to remove, it is separated by small shreds. The mushroom pulp is dense and elastic, hardens over time, and is colored yellow. Inside, the flesh is brownish or brown. It has no particular odor. The spores are also yellow, ellipsoid in shape. Spore powder has a brown or olive tint.Did you know? Mushrooms — unusual representatives of the living world. Scientists could not attribute them to plants or animals, so they are a separate kingdom of nature.
The bottom of the cap also indicates the age of the goat. In a young specimen it is yellow, red or brown in color, while in an old one it becomes brownish. The length of the leg is from 4 to 10 cm, the thickness reaches 2 cm. The leg has a dense structure and a cylindrical shape, which tapers closer to the bottom. Coloring it a couple of tones is lighter than the hat, while at the base of the leg is yellow. The surface is smooth and matte.

Where is it growing?
These mushrooms grow more often in coniferous forests, usually pine. They prefer to live on acidic and nutritious soils. Sometimes they can be found on sphagnum bogs or on the side of roads. Together with pine form mycorrhiza. Often the kids can be seen next to the pink wet.
These mushrooms are not uncommon in temperate climates. They are widespread in Europe and in many regions of Russia. Fruits in late summer and early fall.
Important! The goat has the ability to absorb radiation. It is not recommended to collect its fruits in industrial areas.
Edible or not?
Kozlyak is considered an edible species of mushrooms, although it does not belong to a high-quality food product. Before use, it must be boiled for at least 15 minutes. As a rule, prisoners are eaten in a salty and pickled form. Often dry powder is made from it, which is used as a seasoning. These mushrooms taste like butter. Many may not even notice the difference.
Varieties and doubles
Varieties of goat does not exist. The closest relative of this fungus is the oiler. A similar species can be called pepper mushroom. Its fruits are inedible, but sometimes they are used as seasoning.
